Smt. Abhilasha Bisht was recruited to the Indian Police Service in the year 1994. She served as Addl. SP and SP in districts like ANANTAPUR and KADAPA during the year 2000 and 2003. She served in the Peace Keeping Mission UNMIK in KOSOVO as part of the Indian peace keeping contingent. Later she went on deputation to Uttarakhand and worked as DIG L&O; and Security She has also served in UNICEF from 2010 to 2015 in Liberia and Sudan as the Country Security Advisor. The Telangana State Police Academy (erstwhile APPA) was established in the year, 1986 at CPL, Amberpet. It was shifted to the present campus in 1993. The Academy is spread over an area of 148 acres. (27 acres lost in ORR formation).The Academy was renamed as “Raja Bahadur Venkata Rama Reddy (RBVRR) A.P.Police Academy” in 2013 and later its name was changed as “RBVRR Telangana State Police Academy” from February 2015 due to re-organization of the State.

One of the oldest training academy for Police officers, RBVRR TGPA is a research and training institute on public policy in India. The academy's main purpose is to train civil service officers as well other allied officers.
